Two five year old girls in our Summer ArtBreak program explained to me that art, including clean-up, is hard work but has its rewards. They each made and ornamented a house from extra-large cardboard boxes. Their parents were very gracious about toting home the huge creations.
“Being an artist is hard work. You have to clean your hands and wash your clothes. If you need any help with ideas just go in my box and look at the disco ball I made (with clay and sparkly beads).
“Art is really hard work for everybody. I’m making a portrait for my house over there.”
